Detailing

Meticulous hand detailing for supercars in Zürich: five levels from protective deep clean to concours-grade paint perfection.

  • Five levels of paint correction
  • Ultrasonic paint-thickness measurement
  • Two-bucket, pH-neutral hand wash
  • No effect on your paint warranty

Detailing is the perfect, detailed cleaning of every inch of your vehicle, with the right products, machines and expertise. Our specialists’ follow-up treatment results in a “better than new” condition on every treated surface.

It is not the same as washing the car at home or in a car wash. In theory detailing is a simple task, but paint damage and surface imperfections are most often caused by incorrect washing techniques and detergents.

Even premium and small-series manufacturers are limited in the time they spend on a car’s finish and final inspection. At INCUTE we take the factory paint to the next level and beyond: the improvement possible even on a brand-new car is considerable.

  • Vaporisation reaches even the hardest-to-reach areas

Recommended for

The first choice for an introduction to paint improvement, with a correction factor of 70–80% depending on the paint. Also right for newer cars that need their paint refreshed, or new cars whose finish does not meet your expectations.

Level 3

Paint correction

Small vehicle

Large vehicle

Request this level

Everything in Level 2, plus a measured, multi-stage correction for swirl marks, holograms and scratches of varying depth.

Exterior

  • Everything in Level 2
  • Paint thickness measured first with an ultrasonic gauge
  • Paint condition assessed under different lights
  • Two to three polishing stages to correct swirl marks, holograms and scratches of varying depth

Recommended for

Used cars that deserve their sparkle back. Moderate defects such as swirl marks and scratches in the clear coat and top coat are corrected by 80–95%. Deeper clear-coat scratches will not disappear completely, but they become far less visible.

Level 4

Refinement

Three- to five-stage correction, in addition to Level 3

CHF 210

per hour

Paint correction
95–99%
Small vehicle
approx. 32 hours
Large vehicle

Request this level

Everything in Level 3, plus wheels-off cleaning, ceramic-coated wheels, engine bay and underbody conditioning and a three- to five-stage correction.

Exterior

  • Everything in Level 3
  • Door frames cleaned
  • Wheels removed, thoroughly cleaned, polished and ceramic-coated; rim repair and refinishing where necessary
  • Engine bay and underbody fully conditioned
  • Three- to five-stage correction to remove heavy swirl marks, holograms and scratches
  • Deeper scratches that polishing cannot remove are levelled by hand with sandpaper. This is intensive and time-consuming, and some very deep scratches cannot be removed without cutting through the clear coat
  • Body panels repainted or individual areas blended, with colour matching in the damaged area, where necessary

Interior

  • Seat belts steam-cleaned
  • Leather cleaned, degreased, treated with essential oils and protected with a leather conditioner
  • Leather, Alcantara and other interior materials analysed and repaired or replaced where necessary

Recommended for

Scratched or neglected paint, and vintage cars that need a complete refresh inside and out. New cars and younger used cars benefit too, with paint that can look better than it does on a new car.

FAQ

Detailing: frequently asked questions

What is detailing?

Detailing is the perfect, detailed cleaning of every inch of your vehicle, with the right means, machines and expertise. The subsequent treatment by our specialists results in a “better than new” condition for all treated surfaces. It should not be confused with simply cleaning the vehicle, which can be done at home or at a car wash.

Does my new car need detailing?

No, but even premium and small-series manufacturers are limited in the time they spend on the finish and final inspection of a vehicle. At INCUTE we can take the manufacturer’s paint to the next level and beyond. The improvement possible even on a brand-new car is considerable.

What is the difference between the detailing levels?

Our detailing levels range from 1 to 5. The difference mainly relates to how far the paint is corrected. Level 1 is an entry-level detailing that focuses on protection, while Level 5, our signature detailing, is our most complex procedure and levels the clear coat for a 100% correction factor.

How long does a detailing take?

Depending on the level, the time scale is usually one to five days. Some special projects and more complicated cars may take longer.

How long does the treatment last, and how should I maintain it?

A lot depends on how the car is maintained. If it is correctly maintained, and depending on how it is used, the results may last twelve months or more. Most customers have their cars detailed once per year, and many have regular maintenance treatments carried out by us in between to ensure the longevity of the finish.

What is dimpling?

Dimpling refers to colour distortions: the effect found in the clear coat after the paint is applied in the factory. All cars display dimpling, even when new, and the level varies by car and by area of the bodywork.

Does detailing affect the manufacturer’s warranty?

No, it has no influence on the manufacturer’s warranty for your car’s paint. In fact, correct maintenance is an important part of caring for your vehicle’s paint during the warranty period and beyond.

Which products do you use?

We are independent, so we choose our products based on strict tests and comparisons. We use a mixture of the leading products in the sector, each with its own individual purpose.

How does paint get damaged?

If dust and dirt are not removed correctly, particles and contaminants such as bird droppings, insect remains and tar are rubbed into the paint by the cleaning process and cause visible damage. In most car washes, sponges and brushes are used on many vehicles before yours, and contaminants in them scratch the paint. Even modern washing systems that advertise scratch-free washing often cause fine scratches on unprotected paint.

What is polishing?

Polishing mechanically removes an extremely thin layer of the clear coat that covers the coloured paint. For it to succeed, the surface must first be washed and decontaminated. Our motto for the process is “as little as possible, as much as necessary”.

Why should a new car be checked?

Most new vehicles sustain micro scratches or other damage during transport, shipping, storage or the pre-delivery inspection, when the factory wax and protective film are removed. This is almost unavoidable and particularly annoying for the owner of a new vehicle. We recommend that every new car is brought to INCUTE to be checked over.
